Gabriel Medina secured the coveted top seed at the inaugural WSL Rip Curl Finals. Medina did not let the weight of the yellow leader's jersey hold him down as he dominated at Lower Trestles. He won a best-of-three duel against Filipe Toledo and pulled off a backflip, earning his historic 3rd World Title. This achievement puts Medina in esteemed company, alongside surfers like Tom Curren, Andy Irons, and Mick Fanning, each with three Titles. Mark Richards, with four Titles, and Kelly Slater, holding the record with 11 Titles, are the only other surfers in this exclusive club. This is what everything has been building towards all season. After 10 events, the World Title will be decided in a one-day, winner-take-all event.
