Lower Trestles provided a playground for the Final 5 contenders to push their limits with John John Florence and Caitlin Simmers rising to the top. Florence’s immaculate year ended with his third World Title after a seven year drought and once again broke apart the Brazilian Storm over Italo Ferriera’s ridiculous surge. The pride of Oceanside, Simmers, brought California its first women’s World Title in 40 years and her maiden - becoming the youngest WSL Champion in history. Simmers responded to Marks’ backhand attack and took the Title Match down to the final bout, emerging victorious. Renowned writer, surf journalist, and Editor-in-Chief of Surfer Magazine, Jake Howard, joins The Lineup. As one of the “premier subject matter experts in the field today,” according to Sports Illustrated, Jake shares his thoughts on the Lexus WSL Finals at Lower Trestles.
