Restoring Native Wetland Ecosystems w/ WSL PURE grantee @KokuaHawaiiFoundation

For the #HurleyProSunsetBeach, WSL teamed up with Haleʻiwa-based non-profit and WSL PURE grantee @KokuaHawaiiFoundation to restore native wetland ecosystems and learn about the benefits of composting at the @kokualearningfarm. Together we: 🌱 Planted native plants in the constructed wetlands on the farm to improve water quality, reduce the risk of flooding, and provide habitats for endangered species. 🐛 Explored different composting techniques such as vermicomposting and discussed the connection between soil health and ocean health 🌎 Learned about the foundation’s vision for a future on-site in-vessel composting machine supported by the @wslpure grant.
