World’s best answer Teahupo’o’s monstrous call in opening spectacle I Corona Cero Post Show Day 1
While it wasn’t the picturesque perfection Tahiti can offer, the Outerknown Tahiti Pro Presented by I-SEA kicked off in pumping storm surf to test what the world’s best can deliver.
It’s not Tahiti without the GOAT, and Kelly Slater returned in glorious fashion to highlight the day’s opening jaw-droppers with a 9.00 and 16.23 heat total. Now, a showdown for the ages awaits between the 11x World Champion and the ever-formidable Gabriel Medina in a highly anticipated rematch. Slater set the scale alongside Seth Moniz’s last-minute heroics against the event dangerman Eimeo Czermak to avoid early elimination. Kauli Vaast looked right at home, posting excellence to get started, and making it far too easy in the constantly changing conditions.
The early standouts have emerged, and it’s all just starting to unfold at The End of the Road with plenty more heart-pounding action on the way with a macking swell on the horizon.
Next call, Sunday, August 9, at 7:00 a.m. TAHT.
