Italo Ferreira vs Mick Fanning '18 BELLS BEACH FINAL!! | Full Heat Replay

This heat was supposed to be Mick Fanning's last of his career. A win would have meant Mick would have become the most winning surfer at Bells. But It was Italo Ferreira who made history winning the first CT of his illustrious career. Ferreira supplied most of the highlights of the Rip Curl Pro, both in and out of the water. His surfing all week was at another level as only he seemed able to turn the Bells treacle sections into nitroglycerin. His embrace with Fanning at the end of the Final provided further emotional depth and tangible evidence of the respect he gives to, and receives from, his peers on Tour. Bells Beach means history and heritage for both surfing and Australia. As the longest-running event on tour, it is a proving ground - an unforgiving lineup that tests the endurance, power, and fundamental rail-to-rail surfing of today’s progressive athletes. The deep sense of history that echoes through the Bells bowl, combined with the pressure of the fast-approaching Mid-season Cut, makes getting a win and ringing “The Bell” one of the greatest honors in the sport.
