Unstoppable CT power overwhelms Challenger Series elite alongside rising stars I 805 Post Show Day 3

A brand new scale was laid down in force from familiar CT stars amid Challenger Series hopefuls at the Lexus US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico. The Challenger Series elite got a real taste of what the CT can be like with Griffin Colapinto, Cole Houshmand, Crosby Colapinto, and Alan Cleland Jr. all laying down ridiculous showings in the Huntington Beach Pier arena. Houshmand’s ridiculous power surfing elevated performances to a 16.60 heat total, featuring another event-best single-wave score of an 8.77. From San Clemente’s dominance, including the Hayden Rodgers airshow, to previous US Open of Surfing victors representing Southern California in the form of Levi Slawson and Kanoa Igarashi, homecourt advantage was in full effect. Plus, Joel Vaughan found another early spark on the Challengers to post a 7.83 with his aerial antics to reinforce the CT caliber. But, the Brazilians aren’t going quietly, with CTer Mateus Herdy, recent runner-up in Ballito Wessley Dantas, and former CTer Deivid Silva on the prowl and pushing early success.
