The San Clemente competitor went back-to-back heat wins with fellow San Clemente talent Jett Schilling as Matson garnered an excellent 16.43 heat total to leave Kian Martin in a combination situation. The SAMBAZON World Junior Championships hosted by Best Western showcase the most talented 20-and-under surfers in the sport. Winning the event not only gets these young stars onto the Challenger Series and one step away from the Championship Tour, but also adds them to a proud history of past champions.
